Can I ask which Bob Jane?
I have run into a problem that may not be alignment related but here goes. I changed to GOE rims and Dueler D697 on my D4 but initially did not get an alignment as the car was only 7000km old. After the fitting I noticed a toe to the left. Swapped front tyres across but the problem persisted. Took it back to the local T-Mart where I purchased the tyres from and got them to do an alignment without tight tolerance mode. They assured me they do hundreds of Discos a year and never a complaint. Still toed to the left. Took it back a few weeks later with my IIDTool, set it into TTM, did another alignment and swapped tyres around. Still toes to the left but less so. Tyre shop man suggests next step is to turn the tyre around on the rim as it may have slight manufacturing problem and last resort change the tyres as they maybe faulty. Now my gut tells me that these 2 suggestions are merely discussion points and are probably not applicable as I have have the tyres rotated front to back and swapped sides so if the tyres were faulty then they all are as it only toes to the left.
Because I'm using non factory rims perhaps this may be a contributing factor so I'm interested in the experiences others have had with GOE or other rims? Maybe I take it to another recommended tyre shop in Perth somewhere and see what they come up with?

Hi Rod,
Take it Richards tyre power at osborne park, they are now aware of the TTM setting, chat to Bryne tell him whats going on. They only charge about $80 for a proper wheel alignment and the best part is, if you ask they will take you around the back whilst your vehicle is up on the machine and you can see for your self the acceptable range that the D3/4 must fall in. They do a full four wheel wheel alignment. If they can't sort it I'd be surprised
regards
Brian
I've been using the Claremont store for a number of years and have always found their service and pricing to be good and they have been willing to try and solve the problem. Bear in mind I have only been back there once since the original alignment so they have not necessarily covered all options yet. I was really sounding out if they maybe a small issue with the GOE rims and the D4? Brian, I think I'll try your recommendation to see if they fix the issue straight away and if not it's back to Claremont.

Rod, I have GOE rims and D697s but I don't think that's the issue.
I still have a very slight left fade after a couple of alignments and the most recent was definitely in TTM because I set it myself.
But reading earlier in <this thread> there was mention of needing a slightly higher LH front caster to counteract road camber.
However the "databank" figures that I've noted on various threads here and also on my own alignment printout all show the LH and RH casters to be equal.
So if this is correct then to get a "straight" alignment you would need 1/2 degree more LH front caster.
Perhaps the aligners that are doing a good job do this (and use TTM)?

The next stage in this issue is to take the car back to the original aligners and they are going to play with it for a day. My question is when I leave it with them I'll have it in TTM and I wonder if that is ok to drive around in while they are testing it?

It will be fine Rod. Just means the EAS may work a bit harder while in TTM, which won't be for too long in your case.
Works harder to keep it closer to level, so might be running the compressor slightly longer than normal.
Some good explanation in this Disco3 thread (including Colin from BBS):

To close this subject, the aligners moved the left castor angle "forward" another 3/4 of a degree and things seem fine now so hopefully that's the end of the tail.
