    Didn't think this would happen?

I was fueling the D3 this morning & due to rain & mud decided to give the lights a quick wash.
Shock, Horror! I have a bloody great star crack in the P side light.
I have to drive back to work leaving early tomorrow so not much I can do right now but I suppose I will be on the look-out for a second hand headlight assembly, pain in the butt!
The lights all work but the star is in front of the HID globe, try not to drive at night I guess.
I thought these polycarbonate things were virtually unbreakable?
    Guess not.

PS I put a lot of guess work into that!

Must have taken a decent size rock to do that you would think! It's a wonder you didn't hear it when it happened.

If you're referring to the bi-xenon light then the beam might glare other drivers when dipped but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue.

I was following a truck to Atherton Thursday & just as I closed up to overtake him he threw a few stones at me, 1 chipped the windscreen.
I was so annoyed about the windscreen I didn't notice anything else.

Could also have been driving home from work, there are a lot of triples moving cattle at the moment & between the dust & rocks they throw up anything could happen.
Mind you, I generally stop & pull off for triples.

It has been raining a bit on the Tablelands & no water has got in which is good I suppose but I'm sure the red dust will.

Clean it out, dry, and scotch tape over until you can get clear acrylic from a windscreen repairer

    Interesting thing about the glare.
Yesterday morning we went to the city early, bucketing down rain.
Was parked at the back of the house waiting for Deb to come out, kept seeing a flaring of the headlights.I got out expecting some Lord Lucas electrical catastrophe.
Turned out to be rainwater running down the headlights, and yes the glare was quite dazzling when it ran in the right place.
Yes I got wet,but there was no issue, was nice and warm back inside the D4

Possibly less of an issue when you have air pressure on the headlight when moving forward? Possibly spread the streams out?

I only expect it happens in heavy rain whilst stationary.
It was the fact that I could see the lights flaring against the fence that caused a worry when about to head the 165km to the city in pouring rain.
