The basic radio in my 07 D3 has suddenly decided to change FM stations whenever it feels like it. It even enters into "seek" mode. I have checked the aerial connections and cleaned the side window to ensure no contamination but the problem continues. I would welcome any suggestions that help remove the "ghostly" finger from the buttons.
I should add that the problem does not occur on the MW band.

I had considered that could be the problem but decided against removing the radio and giving it a good aerosol electronic solvent spray. The buttons look like they might not survive the solvent! However I will remove/clean at the weekend and report back.
Just for info both of my batteries are new so no problem there.
Driving back from Perth last week the radio station changed twice, first time had me wondering, second time I caught the culprit out of the corner of my eye.
I was drinking a coffee chill,I had put the lid on the ledge where the touchscreen is.When going around bends the lid rolled enough to change to the next station

X2.
The fact that you say both batteries are new, could be the issue. Check for tightness on the terminals.
Next port of call is the earth terminals. I had all sorts of 'ghostly' behaviour caused by a loose earth terminal arcing under the lug. Couldn't be seen until it was removed. My car had had the main battery removed several times, so I expect that was where the issue occurred with the terminal lead getting slowly loosened off.
Symptoms were:
All fixed when the lead was replaced and tightened properly.
- Phantom radio station changes
- Electric windows changing direction mid movement when a door got opened
- Flickering headlights
- Crackling noises through the speakers
- and finally really crappy 2nd to 3rd gear changes.
Cheers,
Kev.

I had planned to deal with the radio problem at the weekend but all plans were changed when the storms hit Sydney. Finally got to do the job today and first step was to remove terminals on both batteries, clean and tighten correctly. Then decided to leave the radio in situ and spray the channel store, seek and on/off buttons with an aerosol contact cleaner. The buttons survived the cleaning and radio seems to work OK. Will need longer use of the radio to determine if the problem is fixed but for now we can sing along without interuption. Thanks to eveyone for their inputs
