    Thumbs up

There are definitely deals out there but to be honest I was getting similar dollar quotes inside and outside the promo so I'd suggest don't panic if you don't see the car you want just wait and deal hard later. They still need to shift cars.

Prices I got in QLD was TDV6 with tech pack, 11 spkr, xenon's, electric mirrors, rear air, metallic paint, matts and boot liner being 80k driveway.

In the end I opted for an interstate purchase as the prices were less flexible from the QLD dealers for me.

Settled on a 2016 demo HSE with 3,000kms on it. The car has metallic paint, sunroof, upgraded Windsor leather, blind spot monitoring, tow ball and tongue, carpet matts and boot liner. Paid $86k delivered to the house. After that you just pay rego/stamp duty so I'm just below $90k all up. The downside with the demo is that you don't get the corporate servicing and you lose 2-3 months of factory warranty but I've factored that in. Plus you need to wait a week for transport!

I purchased in Vic but WA are very aggressive with pricing.

Interest rates I got quoted was 4.6% but saw Titanix get quoted under 4% which is incredible.

Happy negotiating guys. My first disco and looking forward to the adventures.

    Hi Titanix,

My situation is slightly complicated, as I have a trade-in vehicle involved. I'm not prepared to purchase before selling, so I ran a trade-in scenario by them. There's obviously an over-allowance in the ca$h changeover because the equivalent value of the trade is more than my bottom theoretical selling price (private) and $5k more than the nearest competitor for a direct trade. That in itself makes the deal sweeter.

The best I can get for cash at the bank is 3.35% (ATM). Novated lease is 5.07%. To go down the novated route I lose 4.5k on the trade, factor out maintenance (as you wrote) and still have a $40k residual at the end. When I look at the nett value after tax benefits and the better trade-in value with cash, it's actually several grand beneficial to go the cash route. So at the moment I'm swinging towards cash. Even the preferential pricing for all the ARB gear (and nett of GST) still doesn't really benefit the Novated Lease case. I have a few days to decide.

Regarding roof racks, I've done a bit of searching and can only find Rhino Racks with a solution for not having factory rails on the SDV6. I may need to search harder I'm looking at a rack solution so I can option a kayak carrier or a roof pod or basket to attach to the bars.

Pilots must be paid too much

You probably know how much of our own money we had to invest in ourselves to get the job, Plane Fixer Plus spending up to a week at a time in a ****** rathole flying back-of-clock, when you would rather be at home with your family. Nothing compensates for that

I reckon Plane Fixers are worth more money

    Hi Hugh,

I punched some numbers through after receiving a 3 year quote from SGFleet today.
works out to be about $180 better off per month to novate. Not a great saving nevertheless a saving.

I see your situation is that the trade in value difference offsets any savings you get through a novated lease. So why not trade in and buy with cash and then novate?

Not sure if you still get the GST savings of 5200 ish if you novate after you've purchased the car.

Hey I never thought of that, Titanix. I will run that past SGFleet today .

Anyway, I confirmed yesterday the car is coming from interstate, and should arrive in the next few days. I have until the end of July to settle.

Will let you know how it goes.

If you can justify using your car for work you are better staying away from novated lease.

I get a car allowance & do it like this:
Purchase the car on consumer loan thru land rover broker at 4%.
Because you own it there is no FBT.
You can claim depreciation 20% per year over five years
    You can claim interest.
You can claim rego, insurance, fuel, maintenance, tyres, accessories etc. etc.
I submit an income tax withholding variation with the ATO & pay no tax on 90% of my car allowance.

I do have to justify it all when I do my tax return.

I must admit I am anal about log books, receipts etc but the benefits are significant.

Remember novate lease companies are there to make money.
    Cheers

Another one that joined the club

I recently picked up a MY16 SDV6 HSE in Fuji white, 7 seats, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic detection, parking sensors, LR in apps and 20" rims for 80k + stamp duty.

Not sure how this rates in relation to others, but I know that the dealers are definitely happy to take offers to move floor stock. I initially wanted new but was told that LR were not making this model anymore due to the new one being released.

Tried to get one with e-diff but was told no available cars had them and this one seemed to be optioned the most, so took the plunge...and loving it.

WA stamp duty calculator for $80,000 says $5,200 so it would be $85,200 with stamp duty. Fasn8n quotes $80,000 + stamp duty.

Yeah cool, sounds about 10k too cheap, haven't heard of anyone ever buying a HSE that low. I must be missing something ❓ ❓ ❓
