To give you more location options it would be best to look at a remote head unit and not one with all the knobs and display on it. This way you can put it anywhere you like. I have a pre existing unit that I mounted on the cabin side of the large flap underneath the steering wheel, but with a remote unit you could mount so it's up inside the dash and completely out of the way.
