You couldnt open mine from the inside but you could open from the outside.
The actuator sits just below the external handle, with a cable to the handle and a rod to the internal handle. Its possible that the internal handle has a separate actuator that is fine, while the external handle actuator is on the way out.
Im guessing that the fob, while activating the alarm and immobiliser, sends a higher voltage which is enough for the faulty actuator, while the internal button doesnt, but that's all a guess.
