Locking and also not locking!

You couldnt open mine from the inside but you could open from the outside.

The actuator sits just below the external handle, with a cable to the handle and a rod to the internal handle. Its possible that the internal handle has a separate actuator that is fine, while the external handle actuator is on the way out.

Im guessing that the fob, while activating the alarm and immobiliser, sends a higher voltage which is enough for the faulty actuator, while the internal button doesnt, but that's all a guess.

But why does the actuator you describe function correctly if the fob is used and incorrectly when the dash button is used??? :confused: :confused: :confused:

That i don't know and can only guess as to the cause.

At least the fob works and not the other way round. :o

A long shot but, any chance the child lock is activated for that door? Being locked from the inside but not from the outside sounds very much like it is.

I tried it again tonight - several times - and now the rear passenger side door locks whichever way you lock the vehicle. :wallbash:

Maybe all that activity loosened it up :p

It'll work properly just long enough for you to forget about it... :rolleyes:

Now Dan if you could replicate this problem on your vehicle you might be able to explain it to you wife with a "now if I had an IID Tool dear..." :angel: :angel: :angel:

Unfortunately thats not the problem - she's OK'd the diagnostic tool, and sliders and protection plates and draws and the rest... (what a lass!)

However i have had to recently replace a wheel bearing and fix the EPB (which isn't too bad) but then our air con died in the middle of winter and now our oven has just packed it up too. The cars also coming up for another service and a gearbox service, and i need to do the LCA bushes.

First world problems aye! :o

My theory is if you continue to threaten the lock that you'll replace it it will keep behaving. Thats how all the stuff at work behaves... :p
