Has any one fitted a 12 pin flat with kaymar bar

    Hi
I have to get a 12 pin plug fitted.

I Currently have the standard 7 pin round.

What complicates it is that I have a Kaymar bar and a Mitch hitch, which makes it very tight.

Has any one had to do this and if so how hard is it

I used to find connecting my van up to the 7 pin round awkward, not sure if doing the 12 pin will be easier or harder.

Is it possible to have an extender fitted or have the new plug fitted elsewhere and leave the 7 pin round as well or fit the 12 pin on some extended wire So it hangs lose and not fixed.

    Hope all the makes sense

Why not get an adapter made up and use the black and white factory sockets with a 12 pin socket on the end?

Generic pin details for the factory sockets here, not 100% sure if the black is wired the same with Aus spec Discoverys. Towbar Wiring Guides : Electrical Wiring Guide for Towbars : Watling Engineers UK

Exactly what I have - simple - had an auto spark mate make it up for me while sharing a 6 pack at the time we were installing the tow pro & traxide kit

Any chance of a pic of what you are talking about?

I think I may have seen it but can't find to again.

    Yes.

See the 5 pin that's got switched and permanent power coming to it from the vehicle.

If you have high current requirements then a 50a Anderson is really a necessity.

I removed my original socket and replaced it with a flat 12 on my D3 I used the power from my traxide kit rather than the white plug though. The D3 had a Kaymar bar and a Mitch hitch.
I used the mounting holes from the original socket and made a bracket for the flat. I got it in there but it was very tight.
On my D4 I just made an adaptor lead from the socket to the 12 pin flat and run power through an Anderson 50A. Much easier.
