    Nizpro high volume ZF sump pan

    Anyone looked into or have one of these?

    I think that may struggle to fit in the space..
    Would be interesting to get hold of the dimensions and climb under with a tape measure... (Keep in mind you need to be able to drop it to change filter)..

    Seems to also only be a prototype at this point in time.

    I have spoken with Simon at Nizpro, the high volume pan is $895.00. It is in production and they make them to suit each different application, meaning they can be varying sizes and volumes.

    The standard one has approx 3.5 litres more volume and is approx 20mm deeper than standard. They have fitted, some time ago, one to a 3.6 V8 Rangie Sport and reckon it fits on and off relatively easy. They reckon the oil temperature, depending on application, runs approximately 15 to 20 degrees cooler than standard.

    They are interested to talk to a Victorian Aulro member who tows a van on a regular basis and needs their auto serviced and would look at coming to some arrangement on cost to get feedback about how it works.

    They also fully rebuild and refit to the vehicle 6 speed ZF autos for $5178.60 cents.

    Most of their work is with drag racers but so what if it works. Another thing I asked him about was the auto problems some Disco 3/4 owners have had with long steep slow off road hill climbs and he reckons this sump should make a difference given the extra volume and depth the pick up is covered in but he admits he is only guessing if it would make things better on this front or not.

By the way I am not endorsing their pan or their work, I just rang and asked the questions because I have a auto that needs servicing and I want to get a steel pan and one day chances are I will need a auto rebuild and I like the idea of having a high volume sump pan.

    It would probably be good to have if doing heavy sand work.

    While I agree it is a good idea, $600 price premium over the steel sump will buy you a lot of Lifeguard Fluid 6!

    Much cheaper than a aftermarket external oil cooler though and less likely to get damaged. The other potential up side of having much more oil in the sump and it running cooler is the likely outcome of extended transmissions life.

    Well, thats a little more than I would have bargined on - I would have thought 600 tops.
