    Dust in d3

G'day everyone, from a recent trip of a lot of dirt roads dust has come through my tailgate where the top and bottom sections meet. This has never happened before, the difference is now im towing a camper trailer can't help think this is creating some sort of up drought. Has anyone else experienced this ?

    Cheers
    Lucas.

Towed our camper thru the gibb river road and many other dirt roads and never had an issue.

Was the tailgate shut correctly ?

Dust also gets in through the rubber gasket/breathers behind the tail lights, and also through the spare tyre winder.

Just a thought, but maybe the seals have degraded. If they're anything like the door seals on my MY13 D4 they are not very sturdy and wear easily. I had a door seal replaced that wore down in less than 6 months after delivery because of my jeans rubbing it when entering the vehicle. Both sides have gone again and will be replaced before warranty expires in November. The service manager said that it was a known issue as the seals are rubber rather than synthetic. They normally do seal very well though.

Sorry can't help on that one Lucas as mine doesn't let any dust in.

I am free Monday if you wanted to meet up and compare your seals against mine.

Cheers Dale but I'll have to take you up on that offer another time I'll be on the Reynalds river track on Sunday / Monday . The seals still look like new so not sure what happened the car has done a lot of dirt kms and it hasn't happened before so it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.

Lucas, take a look at the "wedges" either side of the tailgate. They might need adjusting a little to allow the tailgate to close properly (or they might be very worn, as mine were, meaning the top tailgate flaps around a little)

Did you have the fan on?

Cheers Dave, I had a look at the wedges they look really good. But when I push the tailgate when closed it moves like the latch may have some play in it
