    Brand new D4 HSE vs my MY14 D4 TDV6

I had a brand new D4 HSE loan car today,it had a whole 535km on it
The SDV6 certainly has a fair bit more go than the 3.0TDV6,I dare say that would really come in handy when towing, its isnt required around town.I did notice it will and does happily do 70kmh at 1000rpm,mine wont give you 1000rpm@70kmh,even if you try and make it.1200rpm seems to be its programing.
HSE seats. They certainly are more comfortable, having more adjustments and slightly more leg room. The loverly chair arm,a total waste of cow hide for a fat bastard like me,it is too close to the chair.Deb liked hers.
Mirrors,I liked the dipping when reversing.
Central locking, liked not having to get the fob out to unlock
It was Corris Grey with the light leather interior,in the carpark it looked like any other D4,the interior was too light for my liking, especially when used to black leather and tinted glass.
I returned it to the dealer and collected Snow White, she was looking her best after a wash and tyre shine after her service.I got in,and felt at home again. In MY D4,and she felt like a comfortable slipper too.Double up permagrin

I have driven a lot of used D4s lately, some of which are HSEs. They are nice and I will buy one soon but I wish they sounded like my V8.They are not a lot slower but I love that sound. I have looked at a V8 D4 but I can't justify the fuel cost. One thing I think I like about the D3 the most is when I scratch it I don't cry.

Last time I had mine serviced they gave me an HSE Disco sport for the day....

Obviously your dealer likes you more than mine likes me..

The sport wasn't bad for zipping around town in..... but it was nice to get back into my own at the end of the day...

Did the HSE D4 have stop start?..... it's the one thing about the disco sport that I hated. Maybe I'm just well down the road to being a grumpy old man

    I recommend you blokes don't drive a L322 tdv8.

A little anecdote. I drove my 4BD1 110 to a test drive on a Puma 110. I liked my 4BD1 better to be honest. I thought is that all that JLR has to show after 25 years of development. Anyway the salesman noted my displeasure and strongly persuaded me to take a used D4 HSE for a drive. That was a really bad choice. Powerful, quiet, comfortable. And then I drove a L322. 😀
    L322 tdv8 poverty pack - wow

A few years ago a stupid bloke test drove one of those big heavy SDV6 D4s, wondering what he'd have to do to make it go like his chipped TD5 D2a that he was perfectly happy with,...

    I for one am not driving a L322 tdv8

    Well not yet.....

At the first year service, they asked if I would like a loan car...... I said yes please, and with a view to driving something different, I asked if they had a Defender? No sorry, we don't have them as loan cars.......what about a Range Rover? No sorry, not them either...... So they booked me an Evoque and I ended up with a Jaguar XF.
Anyways, I digress, more recently they gave me a near new D4 HSE. Notable differences were the softer leather (Windsor upgrade me thinks) and the more nimble ride (20inch vs 19inch rims). There were other differences such as rear air, but in total, not enough for me to pay the extra for. However, each to his own. I do hope the D5 is available by the time my last free service comes around. Keen to see how it would compare to the D4

I have had everything from Volvos XC 60s to Evoques as loaners. It is a great way to check out new technology. You read abut stuff like adaptive cruise, blind spot warning, and that reverse park thingamy but without actually trying it you wouldn't really know. I quite liked the blind spot alert. I thought it was funny when I lived in Sydney and took the Defender To Trivetts in Alexandria for a service. They had everything from Bentleys, Aston Martins and Lotuses. i never got a loaner but I thought it was funny leaving a Defender next to an Aston Martin for a service. Judging by the recent prices for defenders, maybe they are in the same league.

That's exactly why I've never been game to drive a D3 or D4, keep looking for reasons why I don't 'need' one and do all my own servicing!
