We just had our rears done at 49k. City driving and towing. Probably lasted that long since it's my wife's daily driver and not mine.

It just beggars belief that people drive so badly in Perth , i just cant get my head around why this is so ??? , i thought that self preservation was a human instinct but obviously does not apply to a broader number of Perth drivers as some appear to be suicidal .
They reckon Canberra drivers are the worst in Oz but hard to imagine how bad it must be their after Perth , Brakes cant have a very long life here .
I just did the rears at 32k but the fronts have another 10k left. All rotors OK. I put it down to the the stability control braking the rear wheels on unsealed roads which have accounted for about 5k of my 32k. I have not towed anything yet. Might have also been sand driving in high range when we did the Simpson but I had DSC off for that. There is some thinking that even with it off it can activate in high range.
I have done about 15000km towing the van.Quote:
City or country mileage????
Andrew
About 15000km of country driving excluding towing.
I hope that helps Andy.
So the next question is .... Are they making akebonos for front & rear now ?
ok,
trying to pick up the most recent... old thread on brakes as light came on the other day (and off again???) for warn brakes.
ANyway - before I get bent over by the dealer again (as they about to the timing belts) , I am looking the no BS guide on:
- what disks (all round)
- pads (all round)
- for 2011 TDv6 3.0
Assume I need to get the sensor leads?
I recon changing the lot myself is not that hard (have done plenty of brakes on cars /trucks/ tractors at the farm) - bled brakes etc. however I had a look at this video and it seems no bleeding rq - assuming brake reservoir does not run dry on refit and position pistons on compression

Appreciate help.
Discs, I would suggest DBA T2 Slotted
Pads, a Ceramic compound pad...
I'm an Akebono fan but they don't do fronts for 3.0l yet...
DBA 2t slotted - yep all good.
bugger Akebono they do not do 3.0l front pads.
ECB Green?
Sorry to keep bringing this up , but having trouble finding brake pads that suit the 3.0l (2011). Any ideas- part numbers etc ?
