I don't think your club understands welding. Nor do they understand the Discovery recovery points, which are stronger than any aftermarket bolt on recovery points. Bolts in shear are much more likely to break suddenly and catastrophically than properly designed and constructed welds, such as those used on the Discovery recovery points.

Do not under any circumstances remove the factory points and replace them with something weaker and more dangerous in a snatch situation. One of the bolt on brackets flying through the air is much heavier and more dangerous than the light weight welded rod on the front of a Discovery if you want to use that argument. I don't think anyone on here has ever broken one, however, despite many having a good go at it I'm sure.

I'd be changing 4wd club before changing recovery points on a D3 or D4 if that is their view.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

    Agreed, stupid rule.

The Mitch hitch might meet their rules on the back and you get the advantage of a better hitch as well.

Wouldn't mess with the front one and would use it over a bolt on one.

    Incorrect... it's rated for recovery.

That uTube clip is only really showing chassis strength not recovery point strength.

Isn't the hook of the Crane connected to the recovery point?.....thought it's a good visual that it ain't going to fall off.

Have a look in the first 20 seconds, it's quite obvious its not the factory recovery point!
