    Alarm going off ??

    Gday All,

I have read of people having the alarm go off for no apparent reason and it turns out to be the bonnet sensor that has been the issue. It seems that they get a message saying bonnet open or something in the message centre.

Is this correct ? and when do you see the message ?

Our alarm has gone off a few times today but cant see anything on the message centre or any faults logged on hawkeye.

Haven't had those symptoms myself Ean. Isn't related to those cable ties is it?

They shouldn't be an issue, they are a fair way from the latches and the bonnet comes no where near them when closed.

I pulled the plug on the bonnet alarm sensor and sprayed it with contact cleaner then some WD40 on the latches so see if that does anything.

I could short the sensor which is most likely my next move but all the posts I read about the bonnet setting off the alarm says a message is displayed so I am confused about that.

I remember a fly setting off the D2 sensor when it was inside the locked car , but couldn't even see anything like that inside this time.

From my experience the message only comes up if the switch goes open when the ignition is on. If it is off and locked the alarm sounds but no message is displayed.

A paper clip shorts out the connector and no more alarms.

Yep , that's my next step , will short it out and leave it for a few days and see if it does it.

If you get stuck Ean, SDD can read the alarm trigger history. Not many other things can.
