On different subject my friend has just bought a brand new D4 Landmark with 20" LR and he wants to change to AT tyres.
How do you like the Cooper LTZ ? My friend mainly wants tyres for road, snow and ice ( he likes skiing )
I'm undecided about the LTZs TBH. They perform well on a variety of surfaces grip-wise - so for your mate they'd be very good in that respect. I've driven on plenty of different ATs - albeit on cars other than Land Rovers and smaller rims than 20s - but was surprised at the relative amount of noise and steering wheel feedback. It's not offensive but certainly noticeable. I can't say whether other brands would be better in the same profile and rim size. Fuel economy seems only marginally worse as far as I can tell.
For offroading there really isn't a heap of sidewall to play with (saw a local L320 again today with 285/50/20s and had buyer's regret again) and the side wall compound seems a bit soft - couple of gouges from day trips in sedimentary rock hill country.
We're about to hang a two week lap of the Flinders Ranges with the trailer so if driving reasonably they survive that, I'll be happy.
