    Anyone changed a CV joint

    Gday All,

I heard a clicking sound from the front several months ago but couldn't replicate it , well it appeared again today and it's front drivers side.

So has anyone done a front CV change ? If so did you purchase it in Australia ?

    Any info would be great.

    Cheers Ean

Well once again when trying to replicate the noise to pin point it - nothing ..

Full lock both ways , even tried it up a driveway curb and nothing , so wether its had a stone or something stuck somewhere I am no wiser.

Anyone had to repair a cv boot? One of mine inner front is split. I have packed with grease and used the bike tube and cable tie fix seen on YouTube. Is holding well. I'm thinking to do fix at next LCA change.

Land Rover Parts - 1: CV JOINT (OUTER) - L/R DISCOVERY 3+4, RANGE ROVER SPORT (left or right)
    Or try Mario
This is if the noise you describe happened when turning , if it happens in a straight line it's more likely an inner , the hardest part can be getting the CV separated from the shaft .

You need CV joints, either a split in the boot or someone has driven on hard pack / bitumen with cdl engaged, or just serious 4wheel driving

Good fix , but yeah as I said hardest part is separating CV from shaft ( if its not off in 3 or 4 whacks your in for a hard time )
( unless you have a press )you should get a new circlip as well as new grease

Yes Discorevy, I have repaired a split cv boot. Happened at about 80,000 Kms, now up to 230,000 Kms. Was only done as a temporary fix but after 5 years I guess you could call it permanant
My split was a radial one close to one end of the boot, so not much flexing.
First carefully clean outside of boot with metho to remove all traces of grease.
Then apply Blue Maxx silicon in thin layers, allowing to dry between applications so as to build a complete cover.

I just had to replace one of my inner CV boots - the new part is a longer boot than the original one, which is pulled extremely tight when the car is at full height - with the new boot it is not pulled tight at all, so I expect to last much longer. I replaced with a CV boot from Febest, which comes with grease, circlip and snap ring.
I will be buying another inner boot in preparation as I expect the other side to split.
