Brake Lights will not turn off and other errors.

The last couple of days have seen some interesting problems on the D3. The brake lights refuse to turn off. This seemed intermittent but tonight they are just on. I have tried pulling the fuse and the brake light switch but still they stay on.

Other issue is with no key In the ignition I can press the brake pedal and it all lights up into action.

I have had a read of the faults which started with nothing and now I have two pages of electrical system, transmission, abs, Hdc, parking break etc.

Land Rover changed the control arm bushes last week but seemed fine after picking up.

Anyone have any ideas? Going to see if Land Rover can take a look tomorrow since she was only in last week.

    Rich.

Have you tried unplugging it to see if anything changes?

Well. Managed to pop into the dealer today and as suspected they reckon it is the brake switch. I have this on my spare parts to but list but not sourced one yet. After reading a few threads and on Disco3 it sounds like all the same symptoms. Great article on how to replace linked below. Will be taking that one with me on the next trip.

Will see how it goes :-)

Buy your brake switch from a Ford dealer, got 1 for $27.50 about 2 weeks ago. The cheapest I seen for L/R was over $50

They are a standard switch on the later territory and I also think XR6 falcons.

Its a 5 min job to change over the switch , just drop the cover that is about level with your knee's under the steering wheel and there is a square section on the right hand side , if you look in there you can see the white base of the switch. , just twist the switch and it comes out, pull the plug and refit.

    Cheers Ean
