It would be very simple to plug a compressor into a plug at the back of the vehicle, but for me it is a better option to use the spare space under the bonnet. I agree with David, if I get mud and water into the battery box, I have WAY bigger issues than a drowned compressor. Access to the outlet and switch is super simple and removing the compressor is very easy if required. A couple of pix attached. (my first try at attaching pix, so I hope it works)
What I don't like is the proximity to the TC electronics with a burning hot compressor right next to it...
At the minimum that cover needs to come off every time you use it.
I might measure the temp of the electronics with the compressor going for a while just to be safe. The battery box isn't sealed, so I wonder if I could divert a small amount of air across the compressor to cool it down?
Ah yes, but that control module has moved well away to the other side of the box in mine (MY14) so not so much of an issue...Quote:

Hi Guys, I installed my ARB compressor in front of the main cranking battery and my aux battery on the drivers side.
Depending on the location of the nutsert in the ABS compartment, it may be possible on some models to mount your aux battery there. Mine is a 2016 model FYI.
The ARB compressor works well and they are reasonably priced.

G'day Mark, I just used a piece of galv plate and sprayed it white. I used some door stops underneath it on the side closest to the head light to support it and used the existing nut serts next to he battery to secure it. It's pretty rock solid.Quote:

I'm contemplating adding another air outlet and switch at the rear just for the convenience factor. Just poking around for the best location (maybe where the white plug is) and path to route the hose and cable. Happy if anyone has any suggestions...

You need to bolt down that front edge...
On corrugations it will... not might.. it will... fatigue - in this case likely cracking or tearing the inner panel of the vehicle apart..
