    So the thing is, have a look at Range Rover Sport, the new body structure reduced the mass of that as well, and a large chunk of it ended up in the carrying capacity, as in a big increase. Dependent on model you have 900kg or so to play with. If they do something similar with the D5 you can have your cake and eat it too. You can still tow and have a healthy margin over GVM and GCM, you have the flexibility to manage the tow vehicle mass and by the way, the D5 will have the power/torque to cope with it's rated 3500kg towing capacity. The concern you have around vehicle mass relative to towed mass and the electronics needs to be considered in the broader context of how the vehicle and trailer/van is set up. Anyone who disregards the basics of setting up a tow vehicle and thinks all the electronics will save their arse will eventually become part of the Darwin solution.
