Tombie it did go through to the foam, just lucky we got back to it when we did.
So I'm obviously going to go through insurance for this but not sure do I get a new seat from Land Rover or go aftermarket (Doyle's Leather) and get a better quality leather ?

Want all your seats to match?

I'd be happy if I could get the front two done to match each other as long as they were a close match to the rest of the car.
It might be quicker and less hassle though to have Land Rover replace the seat.

Hi Babs
It may well be that the burnt panel could be replaced in isolation without needing a new seat. I'd be inclined to see a motor trimmer first and see what can be done before you contact the insurance company. The insurance company may want to repair rather than replace so it's best to be well informed before you lodge a claim.

A good trimmer should be able to replace and match. I doubt your insurer will stump up for a whole new front seat.

I think there was an incident last year in London where the concave shape of a new building concentrated the Sun onto parked cars opposite that was blamed for all the plastic on them distorting...
Just another thing to watch out for with modern vehicles and the thin materials used in them.

PS. Why the hell would anybody design a building that's bent?

It's all going to depend on cost of seat, I asked Trivett for a quote on a new seat today, I figure this will be the quickest fix, bolt in bolt out.
My excess is $500 I think so we will se where it goes from here.
