    Quick Release Tow Bar LR040247

I haven't see the Quick Release Tow Bar used in Australia. I am planning to buy one as I don't have a tow ball to fit the Tow Hitch.

Is there a reason why it is not used in Australia? Is it compliant with ADR standards?

    Cheers!

No it's not compliant... and not rated to our 300kg down rating either.

Wow !!! I didn't think you could even buy one of them in Australia - but I suppose you could import one if you really wanted to.

Personally, I wouldn't touch one with a 40 foot pole.
    Cheers .........

LR sell an Aussie quivalent that accommodates a removable hitch. They're pretty expensive (around $650 from memory). I sold mine and fitted a Mitch Hitch. Haven't looked back.

As mentioned not compliant for Aust and only have a 150kg ball weight where our local version is 300kg.

It is not worth the risk.

    Look on Ebay.
There are many Reece Hitch style hitches that fit the Landrover receiver.Much cheaper than those.
I assume you have the factory receiver with the 50mm square tube that fits like that does???

Thanks guys for the quick replies! I thought as much too.

What confused me was in the Discovery Brochure on the Land Rover Australia website, the part is listed as an accessory.

Yes I do have the 50mm hitch.

    Cheers!

That is not the Australian brochure - at the start is says for Canada and Chile and note it includes the 3.0 Supercharged Petrol engine that we do not get here.

Also the Aussie detachable tow bar is not listed here (I thought is was standard) and you just had to buy the plug in tow bar tongue and tow ball.
