Interesting that the genuine long rails that I now have fitted do not appear to have any requirement for a rear rivet? They fix with the three bolts only.

They are a much stronger profile...

I have genuine and wouldn't even contemplate having to drill into the roof for a rail mount.

That is true, the genuine rails are a much more substantial profile and sit much higher as a result. The side benefit is that only a 5-10mm height "leg" is required to enable a cross rail to clear the roof (just a spacer really). The rhino rails required the leg to be at least 30mm high.

I replaced my factory LR 1/2 (3/4?) rails with Rhino rails and 4 x heavy duty cross bars. I drilled and riveted the rails as per instructions with no issue. I currently use a Rhino long half basket on one side and long narrow roof pod on the other (looks like a coffin!!) however I'm looking to ditch it all in favour of a Front Runner Slimline ii rack.

For those who have the Rhino Rails fitted.
I was looking at the tracks this arvo, they are "wedge" shaped.Once fitted,is the top of the rail flat or angled????
Looking at materials for making legs before I buy some.
    Thanks

Andy. Ring someone like TRS and get the genuine short rails.

No drilling - much stronger and if you want to eventually the Prospeed rack fits on it... Fitting Rhino tracks and Expedition Rack

Angled Andrew, i.e. the top of the rails are NOT level across the vehicle.

Today I fitted my Rhino Tracks and Expedition Rack.
Surprisingly it all bolted together like it was factory,I expected to have to make an adaptor plate, not necessary.
I used 4 8mm Rhino "t" bolts down each side, plus 2 of the 6mm bolts on each side supplied to fit Rhino cross bars.
The only hassle,my roof bolts down one side had weld slag in them an I didn't have a blind tap to clean them out.Slightly shorter bolts solved the problem.
I don't think I will worry about front legs,I set the rack as far back as possible, wont have anything heavy up front anyhow.
Will enjoy not having to cart fishing rods in the cabin any more!!!!
