I know there are canbus differences and some electrical differences (such as the MY08 has auto driver and passenger windows, earlier models only have driver auto) but not sure of visual differences, except for maybe the wheels?

Colour coded wheel arches is the visual give away for a MY09.
Well, It doesn't have colour coded bumpers, it might have different rims. Both REV's check and insurance papers bring up the vin to be a SEMY06 upgrade built in April 2008. Thanks for all your input.
Is true, I just found the tow bracket in the left hand side of the rear compartment. Took some doing as its never been unstrapped before. Not a speck of Aust red dust in there either. Any way, managed to bang it up the receiver, great, no tow ball or slide in tube with pin.
Is there a part number for this bit or will most 4x4 shops have them. l need to get a centre ball height of around 450mm from the ground.
Anyone have any photos of what they have.
And which trailer socket do you use ? Left or right. The manuals don't tell you. I'll have to buy an adaptor to suit my trailers small 7pin plug.
While I was under the rear of the car, I noticed two huge cast iron weights dangling either side of the rear, next to the exhaust tips.
What the hell are we dragging two bags of cement around for?
Better fuel economy
If anyone has any thoughts, would be very interested.
Only driven her for 250klm on the road, and O what a feel'n
Great purchase, if I may say so myself

For the tongue and towball either a 4WD or Caravan place. To get something that can adjust for height I know Tombie has one but as I don't have a need for it I can't remember which one it is. See it here in the second photo

You can read up on the Mitch Hitch option in these threads too:

Black socket on the drivers side is for the trailer.
The weights are counter balances for the suspension.
Permagrin - self explanatory! :D :D :D :D
Check out the details for ensuring that the trailer plug works in Oz on the 'Trailer plug wiring for D3' info at the beginning of the D3/4 Forum.
You'll have to make a couple of changes to existing wiring coz the Poms have a different way of doing it.
Cheers
Pete
If you're towing a lot I'd recommend the mitch hitch. I dont have one, but having towed once using the standard tow hitch receiver I'm only going to use it for trips to the tip or the local boat ramp. I definitely don't trust it with anything over 750kg.
Just my experience - plenty of people have used it no problem. I think thw mitch hitch is worth the money tho!
Hi Pete and other fellow Permagrins.
Could you point me the the section what the mods were to the wiring at the D3 trailer socket.
Plugged in the trailer tonight to use it for the weekend and when you put the parkers or hit the brakes, both left and right indicators flash on the trailer only. The brake and parkers come on ok with the flashing ambers.
Indicators work fine on their own.
Unplugged the trailer and checked the voltage at the car socket and there are two pins with flashing voltage.
The trailer is is fitted with LED lights so I don't expect the trailer indicator information light in the dash to work. Not enough load as a globe has.
tried to remove car plug socket. mmmm no slack in the wiring.
Your expert guidance appreciated.
Bruce
You can wire in a resistor but I decided it was easier to buy one of these:

Thanks for to tip on the plug in adaptor for LED trailer lighting. I'll go with that. Seems like it fixes all the problems in one go. It also leaves me the option of towing a normal bulb lit trailer.
Thanks also for the link.. I started reader back from 300. A lot of interesting good info back in the day which is helping no end as I'm new to the D3. Freelander boy for 8 years. Great little car. Just doesn't have the ground clearance.
Merry Christmas to all.

Does anyone know how I can contact green oval.
I ordered their booklet off their web site, on the 4x4 driving 3 weeks before xmas.
Still haven't received it.

Are they on a/l?

Anyway, hope you all recovered from the festive season and back to the grind tomorrow.
