my 2015 Discovery 4 rego details

Hi Guys My son just received his renewal for his D4 3ltr they have the vehicle shape as wagon not panel van and the tare weight is 1840 kg with a GVM of 2640 all other details are right. Could these figures be for the small Discovery. This was how it was originally registered from new last year. Bit different to my D3 with tare 2406 and GVM 3230
    Cheers

My WA rego papers describe the body type as "STNSDN" with tare weight of 2429kg. There is no spot on the form for GVM, and the GCM has been left blank.

From the Land Rover spec sheet - the tare weight of a Discovery Sport is 1765 or 1775 depending on model, with GVW of 2505 / 2600 model dependent.

So it certainly looks like your son's paperwork might be for a Disco Sport, but even then I'm not sure where they're getting their information from.
    Cheers .........

What State are you in Tinman, as I suspect the different departments classify and record things differently - however those weights are obviously wrong.

I'm in Victoria - My 2012 3.0ltr D4 is listed as a wagon and has a registered Tare of 2434Kg but they don't list GVM on the rego certificate.

I think perhaps you might be under the impression that such Gov departments actually have a clue about what they are doing....

You will find when the vehicle is first registered and the staff member is selecting the details from no doubt a drop down menu that they match to what the manufacturer or dealer supplies, if it doesnt match to their menu, they will simply select the closest thing, at the end of the day they are not going to over think the process....

If there is a weight based component in the registration charges I wouldn't be complaining too much

We are in NSW . The shape of my09 D3 vehicle as stated is PVF which I queried the RTA which stands for panel van. Even though land cruiser is classified as wagon which is cheaper rego. The RTA told me they bring Landrover into the country without the rear seats hense panel van then they fit the seats hear. Not sure what planet he was from what a lot of B S
My son's my15 D4 is classified as wagon which has the same rego fee and motor vehicle tax as mine but weights don't weigh up. If he doesn't get it changed and gets pulled over towing something and is fully loaded he will get done for overloading. He can only have 200 kilo of weight before he is over if his vehicle is the same weight as mine.

My D4 is registered as a WAG (Wagon) in NSW - the D4 costs the same each year as my Saab 9-5 wagon, and WAG registered vehicles are legally able to use Loading Zones, whereas a PVF is not.

You should be able to just fill out a change in registration details form and submit to RMS once they inspect the compliance plate.

D4 should be around 2500kg model spec dependent, with a GVM of 3245kg, 350kg ball weight and GCM of the combined tare and GVM, that gives you your max load capacity, which is normally around the 700kg give or take a few KGs.

My son finally went to the RTA to get his details changed, I didnt realise that they also had his engine as a 2.1litre. They told him that he had to go to the dealership where he brought it so they can send in new paper work and he may have to get a blue slip done. He went to the dealership, and explained his case they said this has never happened before. They said it might take a while to sort out he said rego is up in 3 days if it's not fixed I want a loan car and if the car needs a blue slip you will be paying for it. They agreed and said they would be contacting him as soon as it is done. The only details that are right on his rego papers is the Vin number.

Tare weight of 1840 sounds more like a D1, that was about what they were on NSW rego
