    Roof trim plugs

I tried to remove one of the trim plugs that hold the trim down in the roof channels last nite.
I used a trim removing tool,it didn't want to budge. Are they "Christmas tree" or threaded in design???? Would like to preserve them rather than butcher them.Hoping to fit the roof rails this weekend.
    Any tips????
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Roof trim plugs

Pry up an edge... on the plug
    Grab it with pliers...
    Spin the plug out

The head snapped off one of mine so i had to drill the damn thing out then re tap the hole, plus one other which was already starting to strip. All good now though.

That was the replacement bolt if I remember correctly..

Andy is looking to spin out the plastic factory part..

Andy, you can also heat the head of a flat head screw driver and push it into the plastic to form a groove and then just unscrew them..

Yeah one of each. One bolt stripped and one plastic clip had perished. Mines a 2010 though... i had to use the thread the plastc clip was in for the platform rails so had to clean it up.

Should come up just like Tombie described though...

+1 in my experience (from one installation of short roof rails), it is necessary to spin the plastic plugs out having gently levered up one side of the cap in order to give just enough room to pinch onto the cap of the plug and spin it out. I got all mine out OK and also took the extra precaution of using masking tape on the gutter cover whilst removing the plug as the plastic/rubber coating on mine was easily marked.

As already said above Andrew. They are a "Xmas tree" design but will ride up the threaded hole if "screwed" out.

    Thanks guys.
I wont worry too much if I damage them, better than snaping one off and dealing with it.
Lives in a shed so they should be pretty flexible still.
