Disco 3/4 Bonnet protectors not in JLR Stock?

    Hi All,

My local dealer says that the D3 bonnet protector (Part number RAA553) is no longer in stock and has been discontinued.

Anyone know of any stocks? Any after market ones?

    Cheers LRH

Seems like the black (smoke?) coloured/tinted one LR006512 is still available: Land Rover Brand LR3 LR4 Discovery 3 or 4 Genuine Hood Deflector Brand New | eBay
Not sure if that colour suits you or if it's available locally though...

Haven't checked lately, but last time I was at my dealers in Perth, they had one remaining in stock - so I bought it. It is sitting in a box up in the roof of the shed in case I need it one day.

Was cleaning out the shed a couple of days ago and found another brand new bonnet protector wrapped in plastic. It is not D4 but I'm not sure what it is - will probably be either D2 or 120 Prado. Have to have a closer look at it when I get time - at the moment, it's in the box with the spare D4 bonnet protector.

When your dealer told you that the bonnet protector for D3 is no longer made, did you ask if you can get one for a D4. Some dealerships will tell you that the two are different.
    Cheers .........

I purchased a bonnet protector (clear) from The dealer in Perth about a month ago. They kindly ordered it in for me.

I had a look at the other one a while ago. It is definitely a Land Rover one and not Prado, so I would say it is for a D2. It has instructions or something with Land Rover written on it in the bag of fittings. I can't imagine that I'd still have one hanging around from when I had the D1, and anyway, I don't think I ever had a bonnet protector on the D1.

You wouldn't believe some of the other things I've found while cleaning out the shed ................ and I still have all the shelves / boxes etc in the other two bays where the cars are parked to go through yet. So far, have found two battery powered chainsaw sharpeners (one still in unopened box). Don't need either of these now, as I have a proper bench mounted electric chain sharpener. Also found a new looking air powered die grinder in a box with an assortment of cutting & grinding attachments. Haven't got a clue where this came from, as I don't recall ever having owned one. Plus two decent torque wrenches in cases. One of these I knew about - has always lived on the wall next to tool boxes, but buggered if I know where the other one came from (it's a Snap On, so not a cheapy either). An assortment of belts / filters etc from Land Rovers and Toyotas - some of which will still be useful to me.

Once I've finished this shed ............................ there's another shed over behind the laundry with all the camping, fishing and gardening gear in it. Don't think there will be too many surprises in that one.
    Cheers .........

Aaaaahhhh right. That was it. Must have been that time you were up here and also left your die grinder and chainsaw sharpener in the shed, and that new bonnet protector you bought for Black Betty.

It's ****ing down raining here at the moment and we've been getting continuous thunder storms since about 7:00am. I'll probably spend most of the day in the shed again today (too bloody wet to mow the lawn). I wonder what else I might find that you left there ........................
    Cheers .........
