			D3 Front Hub Part number???

					Hi All,

just found out my front wheel bearings are shot

Doesn't look like a hard job, except theres 3 part numbers floating around and depending on where you look they will or won't fit a D3.

The two part numbers I'm looking at are LR014147 which apparently supersedes to LR048083.

I'm also looking at Timken bearings as opposed to the cheapy ones. I watched a video on hub replacement and the guy narrating commented on it taking 3 hubs to get one that had no play in it...

Anyway as the old part number is $20 cheaper each hub, I'm wanting to know if they're is any difference. I'm assuming not, but wasn't sure if maybe the bearing or casting is different.

(messaging LRDirect all I got back was "The part LR014147 supersedes to the new part number LR048083 and there areTimken options available.")

 Anyone know?

 Cheers

 Dan

I fitted an LR014147T to a Sport. From memory the T was for Timken. It has been in for 18 months and about 30 000km with no dramas.

					Thanks Jon,

I ended up buying the superseded part number as it was $20 cheaper for the Timken version, and was in stock.

While tempted to buy a $70 Allpart special instead of a $170 Timken bearing I figure at $85 postage the economy might not be worth it...

I did notice however that the older part is 6kg while the newer part is 4.89kg. I wonder where that 1.11kg has gone? I feel safer with a heavier hub - who knows if it's well founded...

Anyway another $450 I can't spend on mods
