The Rhino clamps are good but generally work off a flat surface. You could probably make a mount to attach to the roof rails and then mount the Rhino clamp off that.
Hi guys, just looking to see what might be out there in the way of a shovel holder to be mounted on the roof. Specifically something that can bolt onto the roof runner that's there already. We don't want a roof rack at all, just something to hold said shovel, (long handle).
Ive done some searching at the shops, but everything requires a rack of some description. It's looking like I'll have to make myself something. Has anyone happened across anything that's similar?

I went through this dilemma a while back, I bought a screw together shovel. This provides you with the options of a D handle or long handle shovel all in a nice bag that fits inside my D4 where it won't get stolen. It sits against the rear right side in the back and doesn't take up much room, is easy to get to for use, only down side was cost at $80. Works for me, I have used it to help other people.
I've got a pair of these bolted to the side of my tradesman rack, but I don't think they'd be too difficult to modify to mount direct to the track if required - very happy with them:

I'd be buying one of the three piece shovels that are available and keeping it inside the vehicle. These have the advantage of being able to be assembled in different configurations depending on intended use.
Anyway ..................... I'm buggered if I can understand why you'd want to stick a shire council worker up on the roof of your shiny new car.![]()

Bunnings have a little "Dinky" shovel that is about 50-60cm long that does a pretty good job.
Marcusas discussed the obvious poked you in the eye a couple of days ago
Now you know what you need and want go out to the shed spend a hour with a grinder and welder

Hmmm,, at this point I'll bite my tongue 👅
The rubber bed holder as mentioned is probably what I'll use if I make it myself,, it's just time is against me at the moment,, hence why I wondered if anyone had something they knew of which could be bought off the shelf.
No no keen on two or three piece shovels, as sometimes you need a bit of leverage on those other brands of cars. Don't expect I'll need it for mine![]()
Quickfist clamps? Mount one on top of each bar, clamp your shovel down.
