    The 2.7 TDV6 Engine

    HI All,

Can anyone confirm that the above engine( TDV6 2.7) is principally the same as used in the Ford Territory?

My wife's shopping trolley has had a service (TDV6 2.7) Territory and besides the $600.00c service cost they say that the vacuum pump
is leaking and its $1,000.00c to replace plus labour.

That was on top of the master cylinder two months ($1,400.00c) and a door actuator ($500.00c)

Maybe the Gods are trying to tell me to stick to one marque ....

    Cheers

Hi Baggy, I believe that some engine blocks were the same but not all ancillaries were shared.
Winaje had a large post about doing a conversion. From memory only the 08 D3 engine onwards was the same base?
He may be able to point you in the right direction.
Alternatively, have you looked at second hand replacement?

Hi Baggy, do you have a Territory body with the Territory engine in it? Is this combination what is giving you grief? I have no experience with the Territory body and vehicle, but love the motor from a 2015 donor that's currently in my D3.

If you want my info on the swap over, you need to read from here on: Territory engine into D3, A Comprehensive Guide

That vac pump is on the rear of the driversside cyl head and is almost inaccessible

    Hi All,

wanaje - I have a Territory with the 2.7 DTV6 Ford Territory .....I've read your post which was EXCELLENT on the swap you did.

I bought the Territory (2014) because for the same dollars I'd only get a 2008 RRS or Disco 3

My mindset was a 3 year old S/Hand vehicle with fairly low Klms vs a 9 year old vehicle with at least double + Kms.

The 2.7 TD V6 is an excellent motor .... my wife does only city driving and she averages 850 Kms to a tank ....Its quiet and
    is quick off the mark.

Disappointed we would have spent $4,400.00c (inc Vac Pump) in 12 months so unsure now if I shouldn't have gone with the heart and bought the
    Disco 3 but that's life.

The Ford steeler has come back with $1,900.00c to replace Vacuum Pump ...... Local mechanic $1,760.00c.

justinc says its almost impossible to get to the vac pump I'll have to make a decision whom to take it to.

Parts have to be ordered ex E/States for us Perth folks.

    Appreciate everyone's input,

    Cheers

I've never heard of a vacuum pump problem on a 2.7 on this forum. Is it likely to be a correct diagnosis Justin?

Justinc - suppose there's not a lot of difference in engine bay space.
The're all basically a big plastic cover for the most part

BobD - noticed a oil leak where misses parked her car in carport.
It's been serviced through a Ford Steeler since we've owned it.
Given that they have had the desiel 2.7 since 2011 you hope they would have a handle on it.

Next closest Ford dealer is North of River in Perth terms ........

The RAC in Perth have a vehicle service centres my wife rang for quote and they
Said you need to take it to specialist diesel mechanic and offered a few 4x4 service places.

One said why are they sending you to us ....Your local Caltex Service Station could do repair .......... go figure obviously don't know it's the same / similar engine to Discovery 3 - 4

Seen a few leak but also from the oil cooler housing in the valley... they fill up slowly and spill over down the back of the engine
