All good info , yes i purchased 'pre-loved' ! I suspect there was some towing in it previous life ... and if i drive to work its a 140km round trip , i do tow my camper with it and have towed other campers up to 1500kg (on and off road )

It has been going like a train the last few days - i have sort of budgeted that within 2 years it may need a box , it is the weakest link if not serviced often and at $500-600 a year thats 10 years of servicing for a box . ( see how my man maths works ! )

So , purchased a Jaycar 12v indicator - at pre start up 12.3v , starting causes a dip ....to approx 9v , then it idles up to 14.4 and stabilises at 13.6v .

This is all over a approx 2mins timescale .

So Mr Tombie may be on the right path !

    Oh , I think your right !

But if you ask LR Dealer they'll tell you 210,000km if first change - that's pretty much the life of a box . Most of these vehicles are purchased by first owner as company or lease cars . Its when they get down to a reasonable price that people like me purchase and accept there may be some works required.

"Sealed for life " is a misnomer -i would imagine its the 'life" of the warranty plus 20 feet ! !

I still love my Land Rover tho .

If you ask a dealer they'll recommend servicing it far sooner than the 210k you stated...

My 2010's 6HP28 was pampered but very soon after its first change at 120K (IIRC about 5K) the whitemetal stator bushes failed.
