bought a brake light switch whilst i was at it and will change rear bulbs

I am bemused at the role of the brake light switch, so much in fact that I am replacing it whether its needed or not.
SO if I change my rear brake lights for leds this will also remove that components proclivity for recidivism? Do i change all the other bulbs whilst I am there?
    Thanks
    Nick

    hey thanks for that

I kind of played with my new switch pushing the plunger in and out.. I know I know I just cant help myself.
Kind of reminds me of the MASH episode where hawkeye and trapper john disarm a bomb when radar says "cut the red wire " which they do and then says "but cut the black wire before you do"
So i might have wrecked my brake light switch...

The switch plunger can be reset although I can't recall how to do it. Someone will remember.

I just bought and fitted a new brake switch D3, see my post on D3 playing up.

Bought from L/R agent needed it in a hurry, in L/R original green and white box, the part has "Jaguar" moulded in to the plastic. The pin in that was fully extended when opened, did not appear to be any way to retract it, but having read the warnings I did not fiddle.
All works fine but that was not the problem unfortunately !

At least I now have a spare good brake switch to carry, I doubt that it took more thab a couple of minutes to swap over - after I got the dash cover off.

Mine was genuine as well and also had the jaguar logo on it. All i did was push it in and out a few times (ok 6).. does that let the genie out?

I vaguely recall that rotating the switch during fitment operates a release catch on the switch that needs to be pressed or similar allow the plunger to reset.

    Hi Nick

the others can all be changed to LED with no issue apart from the blinkers which need a resistor if you use a LED. Link to old post
Note the two pack Load resistors Part LR12/2 works in the Blinkers well but allows a little bit of a flicker on my two trailers I added them to as well. Trailer blinkers work fine and the flicker is so slight I am not stressed at all by it. (Some might be)

The reversing lights in LED are so much better!
