Just a quick follow up on my earlier posts, this battery is really good, delivered quickly and ready to go. it does seem to turn the engine over better than the original battery, i hope it lasts as well. Have since noticed that 4WD Extreme have put the price up on the batteries to $999 (from $495). Not sure what has happened there???

4WDExtreme put the price to $999 when they are out of stock. The Optima D34 was that price for a month or so but back to $320 now. Guess its the easiest way to update the web page.

Did you end up going with the Odyssey Extreme PC1350 as per earlier discussions?

    New D4 battery

My 2011 D4 HSE is on its second battery. First one failed completely at 18 months (which ULR tried to charge me $500, didnt happen as it was covered by warranty). The second battery was replaced recently due to slow cranking and was replaced with an Exide XDIN88MF which will do the job just fine. Not sure on retail price as this is the new Heavy duty (Red top) version of the DIN88 and is just about to hit the shelves, should be priced at around $240 Retail. Good battery with good warranty.

Has anyone got another good source for the Odyssey batteries? 4WDExtreme is out of stock with no time frame for replacement

Getting the occasional 'low power' message, which I'm taking as an early warning of battery death...

Is that the AGM battery? How do you find it, a few weeks on?
The Odyssey baterries are proving difficult to source at non-criminal prices, but the Varta AGM (G14) is on ebay for $440...

Have I read somewhere that the preferred/recommended option is to stick with the flooded cell type? May be just imagining that one...

No. The preferred is AGM and what Land Rover migrated to. Yes the Varta is an AGM.

Just a side note on this old thread..

I had the PC1350 Odyssey in the D4 for 12 months... Turned into a disaster of sorts...

Dropped charge capacity, only holding 12.3v maximum after restoration charges etc in an attempt to fix it (as per Odyssey recommendations).
Rested voltage after 24 hours was 11.8v

I've since changed to a Bosch LN5 and initial impressions are promising.
