That is interesting indeed
Who is sick of having to open their rear tyre swing when you've got your hands full, or just want to quickly grab something out of the back?
Who would find this product useful?
I have developed a universal fitting, tilting tyre mount for existing swing out spare tyre bars. With this you can single-handed lower and raise the spare tyre, giving you access to upper boot lids or canopy lids WITHOUT having to open the tyre swing.
Features will include;
-Single action release (Single handed and easy enough for all ages to use)
-Quality gas struts for smooth and steady lowering and assisted lifting of heavy 4x4 tyres
-'Slam latch' so you can push close, and forget
-Bearing hinges designed for maximum durability
I have been running my initial prototype on my car for the last year with great success and vested interest from other 4x4 drivers. I am now looking for interest to begin manufacturing!
If you're interested, and have an existing tyre swing who wants a prototype fitted on their vehicle! If chosen you will receive this at 50% off RRP (price yet to be determined)!
The Discos would benefit greatly from this as I have with my range rover.
(Mods: If not allowed, please move to sales section. just gauging interest)

SubscriberI don't have one and the issues you discuss is what puts me off as SWMBO would not be impressed. I had considered getting one that I can take off between trips, but even during trips this would be great. I watch with interest.

Amazing. I had something similar on a little Lada Niva many moons ago. Most people thought it strange but it worked well but dropped right down flat from memory. I'm still thinking about an RWC for the D4 but think I'll stick with a Ridiji as I really like their workmanship.
Good thinking though Chaybra.

I you start production and selling them here, you'll need to upgrade to a Vendors subscription and advertise them in the verandah, but I don't think it's an issue in its current form by gauging interest.
By the way, I'm interested for my RRC.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Digging deep into the recesses of what remains of memory, we had the same thing on a Windsor Rapid van where the beds came out and any other type of wheel carrier would have been in the way.
So not a new idea but a good one for those that just want to lift the top of the tailgate and yours looks to be much better designed than either of the 2 I mentioned above .
Good luck with it.
AlanH.
I'm definately interested, not for the car but for our camper trailer
Cheers Baz.
