    So the cable was pinched against something or rubbed against something?

    Yes, the cut in the insulation can be seen but I couldn't spot on what it had rubbed. It could be worthwhile to check other vehicles for the same inappropriate routing of the harness during assembly.

    Graeme - it was not a cut, just a pinch or a flat pressure mark from whatever it was resting against. That thin line you can see is actually a pen mark - the service rep drew a box around the area to show me where the problem was.

    To be a short to earth the insulation must have been compromised. Close inspection should reveal exposed wires at the bottom of the depression in the insulation.

    I saw the lines drawn to indicate the area.

    Why? That's what warranty is for...

    If a company set out to build a new vehicle that never had a warranty issue NO ONE could afford to buy it.

    It's unfortunate but not to be completely unexpected..

    I will be passing through there early June. Look out for me, i will be towing a Patriot Camper i am heading upto the Goldie to bring home to Sydney.
