Just for laughs, took the D4 over a weighbridge yesterday, in preparation for Saturday's departure for Cape Leveque, the Gibb and other remote places.
Loaded with MOST of our gear, 180 litres of fuel, spare wheel carrier, spare battery, a couple of rod tubes and max trax on the roof, but minus the bride and a couple of clothes bags, she came in at 3,080KG. With the camper trailer putting 190KG on the tow hitch, I've calculated I've got precisely 157KG left before I hit maximum allowable GVM.
I might have to strap the bride to the boat loader on the camper trailer.

SupporterJust as well you haven't put a Kaymar Rear Bar and Bullbar on the car like mine!
Maybe you need to put more stuff in the trailer or carry less stuff. We can fit Michelle in if you like!!
See you in Broome. I'm not going to weigh mine again.

If so be careful as you approach dips as some can be pretty rough and don't lower the pressure too much with that much weight and go slowly.
I still remember the bloke at the NSW Range Rover Club who did 11 Coopers between Sydney and Darwin and that was with 18 inchers. LOL. All bruised on the inside by the rim jamming the tyre between it and the rocks .

You certainly won't be the first to take off into the wild yonder in a D4 that's over GVM. I saw one recently top 3,500Kg with the camper on the back, but it certainly didn't have any issues along the way.
Pity it is technically illegal, as the vehicle could run at 4 tonne all day every day and not bat an eyelid.
You'll just have to take the chance or stick a few more things in the trailer (if that's not already overloaded).
I doubt you'll be the only person on the road a few Kg's over, I wouldn't stress it too much.
Have a great trip!
