Windscreen Replacement

I had mine replaced recently (again) - with a genuine (again) - the installers always comment how much heavier the genuine on is compared to aftermarket. But they did comment that there was no bond along the top edge between the screen sealant and the bodywork - he was able to put his knife straight up through the gap when he was cutting the bond (or lack of) for removal - no wonder she leaked every now and then. So yes - lots of sealant at the top and push the bugger hard when fitting.

Have I missed something here? Am I right in reading your post that having a replaced windscreen leak is actually acceptable and that to have it not leak is a special request?:no2::eek2:

I assume that you said it to the RACQ to emphasise the point to the installer?

I told the insurer I had a water leak which could be from the windscreen so would they specifically ask the installer to be very thorough with the bonding for the new one. They did, and he did.
If a windscreen is replaced through an insurer and isn't done properly then the insurer has to wear the cost of getting it fixed.

I replaced he Windscreen recently in my RRS and went with the cheaper option (non genuine) as i didn't tick the box on the insurance renewal, recommendation don't do it!!! It is very noisy at speed with wind noise, 6 months later i am used to it but still wish for the quiet old days. Heading cross country later in the year, almost hoping for a crack so i can get a genuine fitted again.

Upgrade your insurance to get one annually.

Yes, the box has been ticked now, will see what happens on this next trip.
