Dueller 697s are still a good value road biased AT. Quiet, good wearing and LT option.
I am about to decide on what 18" highway biased A/T tyres to fit to the D3, for the last 30k I have had 17" BFG KM2's fitted but they are buggered and I am over a rough riding tyre. Previous to that I had Cooper AT3's when they first came out but am not interested in running Coopers again.
I have not been on the forum on a regular basis for quite some time so have not read any recent tyre threads.
My question is what reasonably priced highway biased 18" A/T is popular at present? 95% of my driving is now on tar so while I still want a A/T I would be more happy if it's more road orientated than off road, for off road I still have the 17's which will get a new set of KM2's.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Terry

I second bridgestone dueler 697. Slightly more noise at 60km but other than that unnoticeable. Plus they were the cheapest decent tyre when i purchased them.
The Monsta range are a very similar pattern and would be worth a look too.
Bridgies, Hankooks and Toyos I suggest are worth a look.
Pirelli Scorpions seem to be the most favorite as a road based AT tyre.

SubscriberLoved the Scorpions, great on gravel and better offroad than the tread would suggest. Just an expensive and relatively fastwearing tyre.

Thanks guys, I had a set of new Scorpions on the D2a once after having the D684's on it, while a great all rounder they wore out extremely quickly.
Given that all the major sales ended today and all the major tyres shops are over a hours drive away I had to do a deal over the phone from the internet, so I went with what seamed like a good deal on a tyre brand that I have always liked. I have ordered a set of the new Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 which I will have fitted on Tuesday when I next go into Newcastle. They are not at the HT end of the A/T spectrum given their thread pattern but thems the breaks when you leave the decision making to the last moment.
I tried to get a deal on the D697's but couldn't find anyone who would go near matching the Yokohama deal. Has anyone here tried their new Geolander A/T yet?
Cheers,
Terry

I have extensive experience with the older one and that was a really great tyre. Definitely amongst the best of the road - biased still-decent A/Ts. Drives like a H/T on bitumen but like a reasonable A/T when off road. The new one is basically a light rework of that proven tyre but with a lot more snow grip built in. Deeper tread than a H/T, so will squirm a bit more when pushed but otherwise excellent on-road.
IMHO You've chosen well and will be very happy with their performance.
