Well I’m not sure how much was you lot and how much was my wife’s reasonable input, but I’ve been talked back from the ledge. Not so much because of the D4s on offer as the cascading problem with our other cars and who can drive what (my Golf is manual, which Michelle isn’t licensed for) and the desire to keep that Golf for when our eldest starts driving next year.

Compromise: I’ve got the green light to kit up the DS for a bit more adventure over the next 18 months or so and then we’ll look at either a new D5 or a great 2nd hand D4 if I’m lucky enough to find one.

So on the DS I’ll be fitting roof racks, some AT tyres and maybe getting a full size spare to carry in the back. And given today’s outing where I too easily found the limits of the DS’s ground clearance, I’m going to start asking around about the feasibility and wisdom of a slight lift.

Thanks again for the comments, all.
