Yeah. Flat tip screwdriver and lever up the egr clip. A pair of adjustable pliers makes it easy to clamp it back together again. Mine have been apart half a dozen times and are still working fine.

Have you guys noticed any difference to performance after cleaning your intake? Any change to fuel consumption?

The difference is night and night. Absolutely positively zero difference in economy, power, smoothness. It makes you feel good but does nothing.

So, a little update 3 weeks post clean. Whilst the fuel economy my be marginally better, the mid range response has improved and it blows considerably less black smoke. I think i will do this clean annually, to ensure things stay nice and smooth.

    cheers

Same - about 90 mins for me as well.

It’s really frustrating seeing how much is in the manifolds and not being able to get to it.
I really want to go a step further

making me really think about the EGR blanking

Including cleaning, it took me about the same time (90min)

From my experience, can recommend mapping the EGR’s out. I understand that on the D4 3.0 SDV6 it’s not possible to physically blank them off.

I would also recommend this. Not to mention how much better the car is to drive after a remap

I understand I have to physically blank the EGR and do a software update

Is there any downside to doing this?
    Does anyone have the costs?

i don’t want any other changes to increase performance etc

I was quoted around $600 for just EGR or about $1100 for full tune and EGR from the Perth specialist (can’t remember their name - makes the emulators).
