D3 replacement Key what you need to know

Hi Guys, Just purchased a new key for my2009 D3 on Ebay, it even has a landrover logo on it. Took it to a locksmith had it cut to my old key, went home and got the Nanocom out to program the new Key. Went through the procedure, with the Nanocom not reading it. I got onto my computer and went to The Nanocom site where I read that there was a new update for the Nanocom, one of the bug fixes was Key learning for 2009 D3 so I downloaded it and tried again, still no good. I then inspected the new key it had Canada and a lot of numbers written on the key with a 315mhz frequency. I had a look at my key and guess what 433.98mhz. Posted on the Nanocom site and Adrian confirmed my suspicions that the Key needs the same frequency to work. Am going to try for a refund but I don't think that is going to happen as I have had the key cut. So will have to look elsewhere for a new one with the same frequency. Hope this helps anyone in the same boat
    Cheers

Good luck with the return Tinman. If you look at the blade closely you can see a tiny scroll pin that holds it to the switch blade mechanism. Push the pin out and swap the blade for the blank one you get with the 433MHz unit. I might have a blank blade floating around. Where are you located?

Hi Oztourer, Thanks for the offer. I just purchased a 433mhz key from a locksmith on ebay. He told me the 315mhz key is pretty rare in Australia an if you can get hold of one its worth a fortune to buy. I am going to swap the blank off this new key to the 315mhz one. Just got a reply from them saying they dont sell 315mhz keys and all there keys are 433mhz. They said they were going to contact people they have sold them to, to see what key they have, lot of bull if you ask me. I have sent them a photo of all the serial numbers and frequency and told them either send me a new key or refund my purchase.

did that quite successfully. Though I do need to get the spare going again, the surface mount micro switches have had it. So new innards!

I have 2 remotes, 1 with a low battery and the other with a now broken key. After just replacing the radiator and cars battery, I need to replace both key fobs. Pain in the butt needing 1 to lock and unlock and 1 to start it, reminds me of the old Holdens with a key for each thing, door, boot and glovebox.
