    Recommended Battery 2011 D4

My battery has been on the way out for a little while now, finally it's gone.

im certain this topic has been covered previously but searches for "recommended battery" brings in more than a few hits!

Im looking for the specific battery I should be buying but also a suitable upgrade? I don't use many additional accessories except when camping but if I'm buying a battery then I don't see the harm
in getting the most juice I can get for the best price

century and battery world are across the road from where I live and have quoted me $280 for the same or similar to what's in the car now, should I take that or find something better?

    The recommended replacement is a Varta G14 - 595901 12V 95Ah 850 CCA AGM battery.

Almost twice the price you are talking about at ~ $500, but they claim three times the life cycle. I have one on order at the moment from Sydney ..................... should have been here Thursday but I'm relying on Australia Post.

The battery currently in mine is a "Supercharge" (can't remember ecactly what model without going out and having a look). Can buy these for about the same dollars you have mentioned. It has lasted about 4 years, which is probably better than I would have expected - but has no doubt been assisted by the fact that I have a Traxide system installed, with three batteries in total in the vehicle.

Another option is the Odyssey PC1350. It is generally about $20 more than the Varta, but is only 770 CCA so I don't see justification for one of these. I actually had one of these on order, but got stuffed around by the bloke selling them on eBay, so have opted for the Varta. In hindsight - probably a better decision.
    Cheers .........

I had a Century from Battery World go on me a few weeks ago. Two months out of warranty (whatever that would be worth) it died overnight from working perfectly the day before. Not even a hint of weakness. It would not even accept a charge. It had never been flattened either. I replaced with same for circa $280. Original LR battery did nearly 7 years until I changed preventatively.

I had a varta H3 which recently died (major discharge - my bad, couldn't be brought back to life) it was under 2 years old so replaced under warranty. Upgraded to the G14 as mentioned above. Recommended Battery 2011 D4Recommended Battery 2011 D4

I bought a Varta G14 for my L322 last week from a NSW ebay seller $449 delivered - it arrived in 3 days by courier. The seller saw that the courier had dropped it off at the local servo (couriers don't come to my property) and was about to ask the courier to retrieve it and deliver it to my address, showing that the seller was right on the ball. As it happened, I had already picked-up the battery.

What's the warranty on the g14? Claims of three times the life are easy but I'm keen to know if they back themselves with the warranty

I went back to the battery shop and realised he was suggesting a 750cca battery (mine is currently 880) so asked if he has a bigger one and found out there is another battery for even less $$, and it's smaller in size, he wasn't able to explain how it breaks the usual 'bigger is bigger' philosophy..

    $218 for a Century 910CCA battery with RC180 (2yr warranty)
$449 for a Varta G14 850CCA (unsure of the RC)

Surely half the price and more CCA is a good thing? Plus less weight.
