Well I attempted to clamp the connector together and cable tie it, but the work area was just to fiddly for it to work effectively and I couldn't get it. I did however manage to move the locking slide to the other side of the connector, and as the locking slide holds onto 4 locking pins out of a total 6 that meant my broken connector still had two pins left. So its back together for the moment, I'll still get another plug to replace it so its held in properly. But at least now I can figure out how to de-pin a spare connector without the rush I had before.

For what it's worth, I had a customer who bought a non starting D3. Previous owner gave up on it and sold it as it would not run.
History was Land Rover dealership had in in shop for 2 weeks, could not fix it, then off to auto Elect for another week and no fix.
New owner reflashed the ECU and it started first turn of key.

replacement brake light switch arrived in the post today. So I'll be installing that when I get home from work - although I'm not real confident that its got anything to do with my current issue

Shane you never know, my Range Rover will not allow me to turn the key to start unless I have my foot on the brake pedal, safety feature.

Well, I can now say after last night, brake switch is not the issue. Still exactly the same as before.

Well, the saga continues. I couldnt find anything wrong with the wiring, pulled a heap of things apart, wriggling, proding and poking nothing would trigger the fault. I've had a few emails between myself and gap diagnostics to guage their thoughts and also a fair bit of searching on disco3.uk. So the latest suspect that its an issue with the instrument cluster, and this is where things start to get frustrating for me. Try to source a secondhand one but people either wanted stupid amounts of $$$ for one or simply didnt have what I was after (or just not respond to requests) I decided to purchase a new one from the UK (Cheaper than what some wreckers in Australia are asking for one) but the seller didnt have one in stock and when it did turn up for them it was damaged. So order was cancelled and Im I start to look at the repair option. Long story short I couldnt find anyone in Aus who I would be comfortable sending it too as they where all just a little vague for my liking. So decided to send it off to cluster repairs UK - so that gets sent on the 21/8. Once again so some reason something somewhere is working against me, through my own fault I didnt mark the parcel correctly and it gets held for import taxes in the UK - Im not sure if cluster repairs UK got any notice of it being held but after a couple of weeks I finally got the information about the customs thing. So I paid that and the parcel was supposed to be released last tuesday on the 12/9, which of course didnt happen Only now I've finally got some indication that they apparently had an IT issue and the customs payment didnt show up so hopefully should be sorted today and finally get the instrument cluster to the repairer. There better be something wrong with the f****** thing after all this!

    Sorted so far.......

Follow up post. Instrument Cluster was sent to cluster repairs UK. Just arrived back home today after some lengthy delays in the shipping process over to the UK. Cluster received a full rebuild. All installed and so far no more issues. I'll keep an eye on it for the rest of the week before I yell out and say that the issue is solved but so far so good. Now since the disco is movable again its time to get that drivers side window fixed
