Prospeed Roof Rack for D3/4 Group Buy?

Not quite (I'm a function over form type person), but I do like the way it hugs the roof and actually sits lower than my current OEM roof racks! Also that its been exclusively designed for L3/4 so that it doesn't impact the GPS receiver. I have no problem with Front Runner, it just looks like it sits a bit higher than it needs to. I take your points re rust and materials etc. It's something to keep an eye on, but if manufactured and coated properly there shouldn't be a problem in our climate. Perhaps.

Hmm, I drove around with a 2nd spare on my roof rack for a while too, I found that the 30mm would make no difference, if you can't fit in a drive through or car park with the front runner and a spare wheel on top, you won't be doing it with this rack either. I haven't found a underground car park the Front Runner doesn't fit under at access height though, with no spare of course.

People have noted a difference in fuel saved on the ProSpeed, which if you drive down the freeway a lot without a load on could be a factor. Would have to do it a lot to justify the price difference though. Also if you don't plan on putting in the time to respray it yourself when it's due, it will most likely cost just as much as you save on fuel.

As you can see that last rack was showing rust after 7 weeks, check out the spots on this one that have had to be sanded back due to rust... Not sure of age though, nonetheless.
Last point, this guy makes about leaves and such getting stuck in that roof hugging wind deflector, made me think of the million bugs i wiped off the front of mine last week.

As other have said, with the negatives and positives most likely being on par, those being fuel saving vs. aluminium advantages, cost is going to be a big factor.

I bought one about 15 months ago. Very happy with it, fit, finish etc. I had it sprayed with LineX as an option from Prospeed.
The finish is excellent and very robust to damage, wear etc.
I also bought 3 pairs of panels to cover entire rack. Cheaper to buy eye bolts here in Aus from any stainless supplier.
I was happy with dealings I had with Prospeed and entire process was simple.
I wish group buy had been organised then.
Anyway, just thought I’d put my 2 cents worth into this discussion.
Anyone want a closer look at a rack in Perth, PM me and we can sort it out.

Just a question about the flat floor sections. Do they drain ok or do you find they just fill up with leaves and crud?

So where is this at?

I’m looking to get the rack, floor panels, awning mounts and the front light bar (across windscreen)..

I've not found any issues with wind deflector collecting vegetation or drainage with the floor panels. The panels do hold water after being in the rain of course as they are a solid panel with small indentations for grip, however as soon as you drive off it drains away easily.
Ive also recently bought the fold down awning brackets and fitted a Foxwing awning onto them. They work a treat and fold down simply to keep the awning as flush as possible to the rack when travelling.

I have one freight quote, but would like to get more and will work on this when I return from Vietnam on Friday. I also need to clarify the poor blog posts above with ProSpeed.

Hi Arcadian,

Still working on freight. You'd think it would be a more competitive market, but I'm having trouble getting decent responses. As for timing, I'm still planning for end Q1 2018 delivery. ProSpeed have been great and I'm comfortable with the quality of their products. The issue above was resolved with the customer being offered a full refund, but opted for a replacement rack which they are delighted with.
