Nup. In New Zealand now and will make contact with our shipping contact tomorrow. ProSpeed have also suggested a palletised option. Shipping costs still seem prohibitive but I'm hoping to have a plan together late April.

Shipping arrangements and final price estimates are close to being finalised. Perhaps as soon as next Wednesday (two days after Easter). If not, then about two weeks later as I'll be hiking and touring in South Island NZ and mostly out of contact.
At this stage we are looking at a 20’ container, but a 40’ container will only attract a marginal cost increase, so the more people who order products, the less each will pay for shipping.
Currently, the one-off shipping for one rack alone is £525 ($960). With the Group Buy, I can’t see this being any more than $546 (for the rack and all your rack accessories as well). It may turn out to be much less. This is based on an order for 20 racks.
As the shipping of the container is a fixed cost, virtually any item you need to import from the UK can be included (subject to approval from ProSpeed as they will have to load it).
I have prepared documentation explaining the Group Buy including Questions and Answers, plus an Order Form in Excel.
I am looking for some members who intend buying a rack to test the spreadsheet for me over the next few days. If you have the time and user acceptance testing skills to do this, please PM me. Two or three people should be plenty.
Once UAT'ing is complete, I'll send Order Forms and documentation out to everyone who has expressed interest in a rack and set up a Group Buy in the correct section.
We have secured special AULRO pricing from ProSpeed for all of their products except wheels.
We have also found a freight forwarder who is providing us with excellent shipping costs that are literally half of that demanded by the major shipping companies.
The snapshot is that ProSpeed will live load our container with their goods and any other goods that have been shipped to them for loading (conditions apply). The container will be sealed and we will live unload it.
The only downside is that it will take at least 43 days for the container to leave ProSpeed and arrive in Melbourne.
ProSpeed has also agreed to load for us virtually any other UK Landrover related item that members wish to import. So if you have been wanting to import something, but have baulked at the transport cost, this could be your opportunity.
A Group Buy has been set up in the Group Buy section, but I'll monitor both threads for questions.
Please read the attached document.
An Excel order form is also attached.
Well done and I'm sure a lot of people will jump on board.
Now that this Group Buy is proceeding detailed correspondence should be restricted to its thread here:
- Container of ProSpeed items and other UK imports
Cheers,

Good on you Don, mammoth effort that no doubt you've put in. Well done. I'll look at the Group Buy now...
A reminder in case some less frequent readers were unaware of this great initiative.

Today was to be the closing date for this group buy Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4 Roof Rack : ProSpeed, but of the 17 members who expressed interest in this thread, only three have actually placed an order. I need at least 15 rack orders to make this viable.
I have received some interest in non ProSpeed items, but nothing definite yet and not enough to help subsidise the container.
I suspect the reluctance to place orders is due to:
1. Difficulty in sourcing short rails for those who don't already have them (ProSpeed racks require Landrover short rails to be fitted)
and/or
2. Lack of clear freight, customs and GST costs in the spreadsheet.
I accept that it's not easy to place an order when you're not sure of the final price. The irony being that the more people who order, the cheaper the freight costs will be per order as the container is a fixed cost.
But if short rails or vague costing is preventing you from placing an order, please let me know. I will follow up on short rails during the week and I'm prepared to clarify costings if this is required from genuine buyers.
I won't set a new closing date just yet, but suffice to say if the buy is not viable in a few weeks then I'll cancel it.
