Not sure why they wouldn't be legal - unless the load rating is not adequate - might be more about availability.

Are you aware of the Tuffant Steel rims that have just come onto the market here? Discovery 18" wheels | Land rover 18" rims | Tuffant

Andrew (apom) is a vendor here see this thread from more info if you're interested.... 18" Steel Wheels now available for Discovery 3, 4 and 5

Offset looks way out. The tyre was either just outside or even with wheel arch.

They look like the Dynamic 17" wheels which had an offset of +30mm, so illegal in Aus. It is a D3 in the vid, so 17" fit fine - it's the offset that causes the problems in Australia.

The new Tuffant 18" steel wheels are the way to go for 3L D4s.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the look of the Tuffant rims.

If style is a concern when buying wheels, people buy alloys instead of steel. That’s what the compomotives are for.

I ordered Tuff Ants because style is at the bottom of my list of priorities for 18” D4 wheels.

The way a steel rim looks is very much beside the point, none of them look "good". What they offer is robustness and low cost (relatively) but more importantly the TuffAnt actually fits the 3.0L front brakes with legal offset etc and without modification, the only steel wheel that can.
