    V8 Petrol - Disco vs Landcruiser

    A mate is looking at buying a V8 petrol Landcruiser. Anyone able to offer intelligent reasons why a V8 petrol Disco would be a better choice?

    Really comes down to personal taste.

    I love the styling of my D4, can’t stand the Toyotas personally.

    Tell him to go test drive a D4 at least. The Jag 5.0 in mine just blew my mind, totally different beast from all that came before.

    In that case I agree with KiwiD4. The Disco V8 5.0 leaves the Toyota behind in so many ways it's not funny. There are some pretty good threads comparing Cruisers to D4's in the D3/D4/RRS section. Having driven both in V8 guise I would go the D4 every single time. The 200 Series is rather agricultural in comparison, even the newer ones. If he has never owned a Land Rover product before, the only reasons that might scare him off would be the servicing in remoter areas, if that's where he lived, and maybe the added complexity. Nothing that some education wouldn't help him with. I'm sure some D4 V8 owners will be along soon to give you their day to day ownership experiences.

    Best advice would be for him to test drive both and then make a decision. There are currently 3x D4 V8's for sale on carsales in Qld. Maybe take a look? A couple of years ago my sister and Bro-in-law were all set on buying a 200 Series until I talked them into test driving a D4 SDV6. Got less than 5 minutes into the test drive and they told the sales guy to go back. They bought the D4.

    Well, if he needs to use the third row, the Landcruiser barely fits toddlers, whereas the D4 fits large-ish adults.
