Thread: Akebono Disc Pads suit 2013 Discovery 4

My experience has been the same as Rich.

I've had Akebono pads fitted to all 4 wheels for more than three years now. No evidence of harder pedal (even when I've been driving around Tassie on two separate trips since installing these pads), and no sign of increased wear of the rotors - just the opposite.

I had the LR dealer I bought the vehicle from in Perth fit the Akebono pads (which I supplied) together with a new set of OEM rotors (the originals were partly worn, but still had some life in them - but we wanted to monitor rotor life from new with these pads). Same dealer still services my vehicle and has been monitoring the wear / performance of the Akebono pads. They have so far been very impressed with them, telling me that they are seeing less wear on both the pads and the rotors than on similar vehicles with OEM pads & rotors fitted.

If I still have this vehicle when these pads are due for replacement, I will not hesitate to replace them with another set of Akebono's. The fact that my wheels simply do not get any sign of brake dust on them any more is a bonus.

I installed Akebonos on new front rotors (Bearmach OEM) and barely worn rears 40K (actually 40180 according to my log) ago. I haven't noticed any real difference in brake feel or performance. I checked the pads and rotors just the other day and was very surprised to see plenty of pad left and bugger all wear to the rotors. Considering I drive stop start traffic most days and tow on weekends I'm very happy with both the wear and lack of dust.

Just to clarify, is the major benefit of akebonos a lack of dust? As it sounds like there isn't much improvement in stopping. Thats ok but I just wanted to know.
