Extended Warranty - Anyone had experience with LR or Third party?

My D4 is approaching 3 years old, it has been uneasy for the last couple of years since it had been in & out for different issues, compressor, brake, turbo, etc. I felt that I need some sort of protection if I am doing more offroad and long distance touring. LR extended warranty almost out of the question, which more than $4000 for extra two years, it probably source through Allianz insurance. Now, I had a 3rd party insurance which almost matches factory warranty as it claims as follow, the price dropped since the last quote in July.

Thanks for your enquiry and I've prepared quotes on your Land Rover Discovery as discussed. The PDS is attached for your information and to help you decide if this product is right for you.

The Eric policy allows for 200,000 total klms from new, so this means that if your vehicle had 65,000klms when the policy starts, you have 135,000klms to travel over the time period.

The policy imitates the manufacturer's warranty (minor exclusions apply), has no excess or individual claim limits (up to purchase price), is transferable to new owners and can be cancelled with pro rata refunds if no claims have been made. You can service the vehicle at any licensed mechanical workshop or dealer, your choice, and you must continue to service in accordance with the log book schedule.

Eric 5 Star Platinum A Warranty (200,000klm limit) November 2017 Quote

    2 year - $1460
    3 year - $1635

    4 year - $1985
    5 year - $2120

Eric 5 Star Platinum A Warranty (200,000klm limit) July 2017 Quote

    1 year - $1550
    2 year - $1850
    3 year - $2185

    4 year - $2775
    5 year - $2995

I noticed that many think its useless or many exclusions. However, I need to know your experience if any issues with the claim. It mentioned no excess, also cover up to your vehicle valuation, up to 200k km.

I have this and happy with it.
Covered replacement front lower control arms when bushes failed and air suspension compressor.
I've more than covered my investment.

What kms when the LCAs went jwb?
I have the LR/Allianz extended warranty and had a claim for a LCA bush refused 1 month into the new warranty (i.e. vehicle 37 months old) and at 100,000km. They said the kms was the issue....

Otherwise I think the LR/Allianz warranty is a good value/risk investment.

I was just looking at extended warranties only this week. I saw an article on Car Sales about RedBook warranties.
    Access Denied
My quote came in at $2430 for an additional 3 years of equivalent factory warranty. That’s for a D4 2016 SDV6 SE. You could also opt for a 5yr warranty making it a total of 8 years. I’m not sure of the inclusions/exclusions of the additional 2 yrs over the 3 yr warranty as the 3 yr was comprehensive and 5 yr was standard warranty.

I broke even on a 3 year AVEA warranty which cost $2k. All I needed in that 3 years was a water pump and the EPB module

Was refused LCA coverage again stating bushes were a wearable item

I bought the car earlier this year 2013 model with 64k km. Control arms were done at about 68k without question but I got a comment that above 100k it wouldn't have been that way. Compressor a couple of weeks back at 71k.

That seems very young for an AMK compressor.

did you go to dealership and get them organised the claim through Eric insurance? How much you are paying for? It is a bit weird the same agent quoted me two different price in 4 months, don’t know if any fine prints and exclusions?

    Cheers,
    Gary

I thought so too. I started getting faults - the slow to fill reservoir one - took it to LR dealer who checked it out and came to the conclusion there were no leaks anywhere so it was a failing compressor.
Replaced under my extended warranty. I've got the old compressor and I'm going to see about getting a refurb kit and will have a spare.
