Tempremental earthing issue - lights and dongs

    Gday all,

Am putting in a second Aux battery and I put an extra wire onto 1 of the earth point that sits in front of the cranking battery. It seemed to fit nice and snug so continued on with my measuring wires etc .

Started the car after working out what I needed and wow the car lit up better than a Christmas tree, lights and dongs going off with all sorts of faults. Car was on the bump stops and had limited gears. Hooked up Hawkeye and cleared the faults but they returned straight away. Must admit it had me stumped at first so after a drive and the issues no going I retraced the only thing I had touched which was the earth points. Took the extra wire off and refitted them back to how they were and all good.

I am stumped that just adding 1 wire to the lug made so much change. Its not like I forgot to tighten the nut or anything like that , but just be warned that the car logs plenty of faults and does funny things if the earth isn't perfect.

    Cheers Ean

If it's like my D4 there's two earth studs in that spot.
The lower one is chock full of factory earth cables and I've left that one alone.
The upper stud has only ones that I've added (aux battery, TowPro, driving lights, etc).

    Cheers,
    Scott
