Well I sold my D4 last week.
It was a MY 16 SDV6SE with tech & black packs.
Fantastic resale - I guess the price of the new D5 has shored up the price of D4's.
It was 27 months old with 72,000 kms so this year would have needed transmission service, rego, & extended warranty which is a fairly hefty bill.
Took advantage of selling it with factory warranty.
Will miss the brand and may consider a new defender when they come out.
An equivalent D5 is out of the question at over $120,000.
Cheers

I’d have been keeping that one as probably the last and best of the breed.
Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo diesel with off road adventure group, sunroof, leather, sat nav, towbar
Fitted with 275 65 18 BFG's, rubber mats & tint all for half the price of a D5.
On the highway as nice as my D4 to drive.
On the gravel near me drives excellently.
5 years warranty, there and back guarantee, life time road assist.
Some will say I need the above but if I remember back to my D2 that's what they said about landrover.
Service intervals are now out to 20k and reasonably priced.
Cheers

Good luck Chuck.
I had a current series Laredo prior to the D4, and would not own another. Drive and handling just like you described, but I got sick of having to do a minimum of two trips to the dealer per fault. (And there were quite a few in my 2 years of ownership).
Most of the faults due poor assembly, and should have been picked up at the factory.
Dealer was quite good about it, but Jeep was quite belligerent to deal with. I also got tired of the excessive number or TSB/recalls. There seemed to be one every other month.
In the end, I did not have the confidence in the vehicle being capable of getting me “there and back”, so we parted ways.
I hope you have a better “Jeep experience” than I did![]()
Thanks Hugh
Spoke to the dealership at length prior to purchase as I have/had concerns.
They verbally addressed my concerns but will have to see if they address issues as they arrive.
The CEO of Jeep Australia is now contactable by email & they have built a new warehouse in Sydney to stock parts which apparently was also an issue.
When I changed over from D2 to D3 I was concerned about reliability etc but LRA really improved their game - hopefully Jeep will have done the same especially as their sales plummeted from Prado levels due to problems such as yours.
Australia was the second biggest market for Jeep at that time.
I am amazed at some of the little extras that you get which Land Rover charge for i.e. Tyre pressure monitoring, auto high beam, black headlining.
Will see what the new Defender brings as the D5 is now out of my price range if I want to keep the v6 diesel.
Cheers

Do you have a fire extinguisher in the JEEP, They are known to catch fire... Also you know what JEEP stands for I suppose, but then some people think the same acronym applies to LR!
