Help - How to unlock gear shift

Just had some recent work done on my car (body off). Unfortunately the gear shift doesn't line up with the gearbox. The shifter is in park but the electronic indicator shows R. The engine is off. I'm now stuck with 3 kids and other half away from home. How do I unlock the gear shift? Or how do I move the linkage to be in park?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Remove the cup-holders. Look for a white plastic tab on the right rear of the gear-lever mechanism. IIRC it needs to be lifted (but perhaps pressed) to allow the lever to be pulled back.

Look in the FAQ at the top of the page, it tells you in posts 15 - 20 depending on which lever you have or the dial.

Ok, I've unlocked the shifter but still won't go into P on the box. It moves when shift it but the best I can get is R. Any more idea? Pleeeeease

As long as it gets you and the family home , the rest can be sorted out.

Cant help with why its out of whack but hopefully its an easy fix.

    Cheers Ean
